The hiking season kicks off!

We’re ready to explore. Are you?

Here’s a sneak peek of what summer hiking in Tyrol’s Kaunertal looks like.

As the days get longer and the temperatures rise, our calves start to tingle, and our eyes turn to our beloved mountains. The countless peaks that rise majestically around the Hotel Post seem to invite exploration. Are you eager to get out and hike? If so, you’ve come to the right place. With 300 kilometres of hiking trails, Kaunertal is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts of every age. Whether you’re looking for gentle walks, captivating themed trails, or demanding high-altitude paths and summit climbs, there’s truly something for everyone here.

Two cable cars operate in summer, making exploration easy. At the Kaunertal’s entrance, the Fendels cable car comfortably elevates you to great heights. Meanwhile, at the end of the valley, the Karlesjochbahn cable car ascends to over 3,100 metres above sea level on the Kaunertal Glacier.

Yet, it isn’t only the stunning vistas that make a hiking adventure in the Kaunertal so memorable, but also the tasty culinary offerings. The trails are dotted with traditional mountain huts that urge you to pause and savour a meal. There, you can refuel with Tyrolean speck, sharp Alpine cheese, local specialities, and homemade desserts that are not to be missed! How does a plate of Kaiserschmarrn torn pancakes sound?

From June to October, you can participate in guided hikes of varying difficulties – always accompanied by an experienced guide. For those seeking a more leisurely outing, a hiking bus service is available for a small charge. This service takes you to the region’s most scenic mountain pastures, guaranteeing breathtaking views and wonderfully fresh mountain air. In short: whether you’re alone, with the family, or in a group, hiking in Tyrol means relaxation, adventure, and unforgettable moments in the heart of the Alps. Look forward to an incredible holiday in Kaunertal.
