Motorcycle tip
Our favourite route
A scenic tour across the border into South Tyrol – an absolute must-see!
Who says it always has to be about visiting Austria for hiking? Holidays in Prutz offer so much more! In autumn, a motorcycle tour is worth your while! Leave behind the summer sweat – the cooler weather ensures comfort in your biking attire. The stable weather promises clear skies, perfect road conditions, and fantastic views of the autumn landscape. Our top recommendation is a trip via Passo del Rombo/Timmelsjoch. This renowned pass road should be open till the end of October, though the precise winter closure date is weather-dependent. On the mountain pass, you can expect a grandiose view, an exciting museum, and two giant chairs standing on either side of the border between Austria and Italy. From the Hotel Post in Prutz, you can reach the Passo del Rombo/Timmelsjoch in about an hour and a half’s drive (approx. 95 kilometres) through the Inntal and Ötztal valleys. On the South Tyrolean side, continue through the Val Passiria/Passeiertal to Meran and then past the famous Resia/Reschensee lake up to the Resia/Reschen Pass (about 2.5 hours) – followed by a 40-minute return trip to Prutz.
